Immigration Attorney | Advocate for Justice

Candia Weaver is a seasoned immigration attorney and public service leader whose life and career reflect a deep commitment to justice, equity, and empowerment. Born in Antigua and Barbuda, Candia immigrated to the United States as a child and grew up undocumented. Her lived experience navigating the complexities of the immigration system fuels her passion for advocacy and her unwavering dedication to helping others find their voice and their path.

Personal Experience

Candia became the first in her family to graduate from a four-year university, earning her degree from SUNY Geneseo in 2006. She began her professional career in the nonprofit sector, working with United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of NYC, first as direct service professional then as a Self- Advocacy Specialist, where she empowered individuals with developmental disabilities to advocate for their rights and access essential services.


In 2014, Candia fulfilling a long-held dream of becoming an attorney. Over the next several years, she dedicated her legal practice to helping individuals and families navigate the complexities of US Immigration law. Her areas of focus include family based immigration, humanitarian relief, naturalization, and removal defense.


In 2022, Candia returned to public service, taking on a leadership role as the head of the Office of Administrative Review (OAR) within the Arizona Division of Developmental Disabilities. There, she oversaw critical administrative processes and ensured fair, transparent decision-making for individuals, providers and families navigating state services.


In May 2025, Candia joined AJ Law Group, bringing her unique blend of legal  expertise, public service leadership, and personal insight to a dynamic team of advocates. At AJ Law Group, she continues to champion the rights of immigrants and underserved communities, combining her legal acumen with a deep understanding of the human stories behind every case.


Candia’s journey, from undocumented child to accomplished attorney and public servant is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when resilience meets purpose. She remains a passionate advocate, mentor, and voice for justice in every space she enters.
